The Beacon Centre is now open and filling up fast, so we’d like to extend a warm Eastbourne welcome to H&M, Next, Jack Wills, Fat Face, Nando’s, Flying Tiger, Paper Chase, New Look and Schuh to the smart new extension.
The Beacon name reflects the famous beacon on Beachy Head which was the first of a string of beacons that warned parliament of various events like the arrival of the Spanish Armada! It also reflects the growing stature of the town in acting as a beacon for new investments and new developments.
Andrew Rice, Fund Manager for centre owners Legal & General, said he was delighted with the new name.
“It’s never easy to find a new name for a shopping centre with a 37-year history in the town,” he said. “But after discussions and explorations, including meetings with key opinion formers in Eastbourne, we agreed unanimously that The Beacon was a great new name.”
Christina Ewbank, Chief Executive of the EDEAL Enterprise Agency said “I love the Beacon name – and I’m sure that it will be incredibly popular with residents and visitors alike. To me, The Beacon light will stretch far and wide!”
