Commemorating VJ Day

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of peace, Your Eastbourne Business Improvement District and Eastbourne unLtd Chamber of Commerce will be projecting a visual display onto The Beacon.

The display will include WWII photographs, notes and memories from Eastbourne residents, thanks to Heritage Eastbourne and the East Sussex County Council Library. Additionally, the display will include work by the internationally acclaimed artist, Anthony Freeman.

The display will run 9pm-11pm, on Saturday and Sunday, 15th and 16th August.

MonsterHero Safari

Ten cute little monsters are hiding in Eastbourne! We have signed up to the national event to encourage families into the town centre to go on safari and find all ten. By scanning a monster, located in shop windows, with their phone, they can discover the monster’s name and story. Once they have found all ten, they can download an e-book, a perfect bedtime story all about friendship.

To find out more and to access the safari map for Eastbourne, visit the MonsterHero Safari website.

Business Promotion Opportunities

Get your business on the front page of The Herald and a half page article on the inside! If you can provide a unique offer to Herald readers, we will arrange for you to get a free promotional spot.

Eastbourne Voice is now offering businesses the chance to advertise at half price. Starting from as little as £22.50, you can advertise your business in their free monthly newspaper and because they are also online, your advert will be available for months to come.

For more information on either of these promotions, email [email protected]

Promoting Eastbourne

We have been working closely with Visit Eastbourne and Eastbourne Hospitality Association on the Love Eastbourne Campaign. The campaign is running until mid-September, with future plans being discussed.

The Love Eastbourne Campaign is a series of competitions, videos, posts and photos encouraging people to visit the town. For the next two weeks, the campaign is focusing on family activities so if you would like us to share what you can do for families, send us an image or two and a bit of information and we will share as part of the campaign.

In the meantime, if you share anything on social media, it will be great if you could include the hashtags #LoveEastbourne and #VisitEastbourne

World Photo Day

Alongside the Love Eastbourne Campaign, we will be running a photo competition. To be launched on Wednesday 19th August, we will be asking people to share their photos of Eastbourne and recreate them. We will also be sharing some vintage photos from Heritage Eastbourne so people can still join in, even if they don’t have any of their own old photos to use. The prize for this is yet to be confirmed but is likely to include a holiday in Eastbourne.

What we would really like, is to see as many of you as possible sharing your own photos, especially if you are a long-standing business within the town and you have some old photos you can share and/or recreate. You can share by either adding to Facebook with the hashtags #LoveEastbourne #EBMemories or by sending them to us at [email protected]

Alternatively, if you don’t have any of your own, look out for our vintage selection we will be sharing from next week.
