Platinum Jubilee Celebrations Coming to EastbourneMay 6, 2022
Eastbourne Borough Market celebrated the news that Market Manager Luke Johnson won Market Manager 2022 “Highly Commended” at the National Market Traders Federation Conference held in Blackpool this week.
The nomination, which was supported by over twenty letters from market traders, town centre businesses, the Chamber of Commerce and Eastbourne Borough Council was recognised by the national trade body for markets as ‘showing exceptional commitment and support’.
Christina Ewbank, CEO of Edeal which runs the market said “Luke kept the market running throughout the pandemic to serve the people of Eastbourne in a safe environment and, due to Luke’s dedication, Eastbourne Borough Market was one of only 5 Christmas Markets in the UK in 2020!”
Luke Johnson said “I’m delighted to pick up this award for highly commended market manager of the year, on behalf of the town and our fantastic borough market. It’s a privilege that my efforts in Eastbourne have been recognised on a national level. I hope this award gives the Eastbourne Borough Market further reach going forward and extra exposure on a national scale”
Your Eastbourne BID CEO Stephen Holt said “The nomination focused on the work Luke has done in supporting both traders and town centre businesses. Last year, we launched Eastbourne’s first ever Youth Market, which increased footfall across the town by 50%. If you would like to get involved in this year’s event which takes place on Saturday 11th June, please do get in touch with Luke.”
