Grants Update
1. There are currently four grants you can apply for via the Council’s website:

a. Local Restrictions Support Grant (for businesses forced to close) For businesses that were forced to close by the Government from the 2nd of December to the 15th of December and/or 16th December to 29th of December.

You have to make a separate application for each period

This is largely pubs that were unable to sell food (wet-led)

The amount awarded is based on the rateable value of your business:
£15,000 or less: £667 per 14 day period
£15,001 to £50,999: £1,000 per 14 day period
£51,000 and over: £1,500 per 14 day period More info here

b. Local Restrictions Support Grant (Sector based) For businesses that have been required to remain closed since March 2020 and have not reopened in any capacity – e.g. nightclubs (who didn’t reopen as a bar). 

The amount awarded is based on the rateable value of your business:
£15,000 or less: £667 per 14 day period
£15,001 to £50,999: £1,000 per 14 day period
£51,000 and over: £1,500 per 14 day period More info here

c. Christmas Support Payments for wet-led pubs Aimed at pubs, wine bars and cocktail bars that derive less than 50% of their income from food It is a one off payment of £1,000 Some eligible businesses may not be listed on the Council portal. d. Local Restrictions Support Grant (for open businesses)  For businesses within the hospitality, hotel, bed and breakfast and leisure sector who where open from 2nd December to 29th December but experienced a significant impact on their business due to current social distancing guidelines.

This is for the period 2nd December to 15th December and/or 16th December to 29th December. 

You have to make a separate application for each period

Payment is based on the rateable value of the property £15,000 or less: 
£467 per 14 day period
£15,001 to £50,999: £700 per 14 day period
£51,000 or over: £1,050 per 14 day period

This is a discretionary award from the Council, available whilst funds last.  Some eligible businesses may not be listed on the Council’s portal. If you have difficulties – please contact us by emailing info@youreastbournebid.com More info here

The following grants have been announced by the Government, but you cannot yet apply for them. We will let you know by email and social media as soon as we have confirmation that the application portal is open. 


2. The Local Restrictions Support Grant (closed business – addendum)  This will be available for businesses that were forced to close as a result of Eastbourne being moved into Tier 4 on Boxing Day.

Payment is based on your rateable value: 

£15,000 or less: £667 per 14 day period
£15,001 to £50,999: £1,000 per 14 day period
£51,000 and over: £1,500 per 14 day period

It will continued to be paid to eligible businesses whilst we are in lockdown. 

We have received an update from the Council, and understand that businesses will be able to claim for this from the close of business on Monday 11th of January. Please note, this is a revised date from the one we announced earlier this week.

3. The Lockdown Grants A one off payment of up to £9,000 dependant on the rateable value of the business premises for those within the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors.  Payment is based on your rateable value: 
£15,000 or less: £4,000
£15,001 to £50,999: £6,000
£51,000 and over: £9,000

The Council is waiting for further information from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. Once this is received, they will be able to open the grant portal as soon as possible. We will let you know as soon as the portal is open.  More details available here
